Maintenance Technician Vacancy
Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere is looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join its engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work at one of the North West’s leading luxury hospitality destinations, helping to maintain high standards across guest rooms, leisure facilities, and the wider estate.
The successful candidate will ensure all facilities and equipment remain safe, reliable, and fully operational while delivering exceptional support to guests and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
As a Maintenance Technician, your duties will include:
- Carrying out general maintenance and repair work throughout the property.
- Performing preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
- Assisting with basic electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance.
- Inspecting building systems and identifying maintenance requirements.
- Responding promptly to guest maintenance requests in a professional manner.
- Maintaining tools, machinery, and workshop equipment in safe working condition.
- Working closely with engineering, housekeeping, and other departments.
- Recording completed maintenance tasks and reporting recurring issues.
- Responding quickly to emergency situations such as leaks, equipment faults, or power failures.
- Following all company health and safety procedures and industry regulations.
- Supporting additional maintenance duties as required to meet operational needs.
Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A diploma, vocational qualification, or equivalent experience in maintenance, facilities management, or building services.
- At least 2–3 years of maintenance experience, preferably within hospitality, leisure, or facilities management.
- Good knowledge of mechanical systems, building services, and hotel maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Experience using maintenance tools and repair equipment safely.
- Ability to read maintenance manuals, technical drawings, and safety documentation.
- Good communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- A professional attitude with excellent teamwork and customer service skills.
