Job Overview
Southern Hospice Group is looking for a motivated and reliable Gardener to join its team in Worthing, Hove, and Arundel. In this role, you will help maintain beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces that provide a peaceful environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain lawns, flower beds, vegetable gardens, trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas.
- Plant, water, fertilise, prune, and care for flowers, plants, and greenery.
- Identify and treat plant diseases, pests, and other garden issues.
- Maintain irrigation systems, water features, and outdoor facilities.
- Keep garden sheds, workshops, tools, and machinery clean, organised, and safe.
- Carry out routine horticultural and grounds maintenance tasks independently.
- Complete daily and monthly grounds safety and compliance inspections.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Support and guide volunteers and community groups during gardening activities.
- Work with external contractors and suppliers when required.
- Report maintenance issues and progress updates to the Grounds Manager.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards across all hospice grounds.
Skills & Requirements
- Previous experience in gardening, horticulture, or grounds maintenance.
- Good knowledge of plant care, landscaping, and garden maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to identify plant diseases, pests, and maintenance requirements.
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Reliable, organised, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
