Job Overview
A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced and reliable Caretaker to join a welcoming team in Wigan. In this role, you will help maintain the village environment by ensuring buildings, grounds, and equipment remain clean, safe, and in excellent working condition. You will also carry out routine maintenance tasks, support health and safety compliance, and contribute to creating a comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine building maintenance and minor repair work.
- Maintain clean, safe, and well-presented indoor and outdoor areas.
- Complete health & safety, compliance, and water hygiene inspections.
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, joinery, decorating, and gardening tasks.
- Operate maintenance equipment such as carpet cleaners and floor scrubbers safely.
- Identify, report, and help resolve maintenance issues promptly.
- Work independently while managing daily maintenance priorities.
- Ensure company maintenance standards and safety procedures are followed.
- Support the property team with planned and reactive maintenance work.
- Travel to other company locations when required.
Skills & Requirements
- Previous experience in a caretaker, maintenance, or facilities role.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Basic skills in plumbing, electrical work, joinery, gardening, and general repairs.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office and email.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in a building trade, or willingness to work towards one.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Flexible to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends when required.
