About the Role

An excellent opportunity is available for a caring and dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Havering from September 2026. This role involves providing one-to-one and classroom support to students with additional learning needs, helping them achieve their academic goals and develop confidence.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SENDCO to create a positive learning environment where every student can thrive. This position is available on a full-time basis, with part-time daily supply opportunities also available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support for students with additional learning needs.
  • Assist students during classroom lessons across different subjects.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support student engagement.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver effective learning support.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to assessments and reports.
  • Help students overcome learning challenges and reach their full potential.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people is beneficial.
  • Experience working with Autism, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, or Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) is an advantage but not essential.
  • Calm, patient, and compassionate personality.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people in education.
